The secret to a bright, youthful face is firm, healthy skin. As we age, our skin and muscles lose elasticity and begin to sag.

Dr. Kamran Khoobehi is one of the TOP 50 Aesthetic Facelift Surgeons in the United States per Newsweek!

While nonsurgical treatments such as BOTOX® can reduce the appearance of wrinkles, they do little to restore elasticity to the facial tissues. New Orleans aesthetic surgeon Dr. Kamran Khoobehi performs facelift surgery to revitalize the face with a youthful appearance. There are many variations to facelift surgery. The most common Facelift procedure Dr. Kamran Khoobehi performs is combined with Fat transfer to face. Marrying a Facelift with with Fat to Face elevates the natural appearance. Facelifts are generally invasive in nature, but the more recent methods minimize the incisions, improving overall recovery and reducing the risk for complications.

Surgical Technique

The technique used during a facelift is dependent on the patient’s facial features and conditions. Dr. Khoobehi will always aim for the less invasive technique, but some patient cases may require surgical approach. Dr. Khoobehi will explain surgery  in detail, including the level of invasiveness, placement of incisions, what layers of tissues will be corrected, and what risks may be associated with the surgery before moving forward.

The La Facelift

The LA Facelift was created by Dr. Khoobehi as an alternative to facelift surgery with general anesthesia. Instead, the LA Facelift provides the same beautiful, long-lasting results while being performed with local anesthesia (LA). The LA Facelift is ideal for patients who do not wish to go under general anesthesia. The LA Facelift is performed in our accredited in-office suite. Performing the surgery in our accredited in office suite removes anesthesia fees, and patients usually have a faster recovery time with the same result. Dr. Khoobehi is the only Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in the New Orleans area to offer the extraordinary results of the LA Facelift. Dr. Khoobehi performs deep plane facelift under local anesthesia and the technique is not different than general anesthesia facelift.

Deep Plane Facelift (Smas)

SMAS is the superficial musculoaponeurotic system, which is a muscle complex that is primarily active when it comes to facial expression. With normal wear-and-tear due to age, gravity and personal habits, muscle tissue loses its form and becomes displaced significantly. This particular facelift is considered the standard when it comes to this cosmetic procedure. Incisions maybe found on the side of the face, from the temple to the lower hairline behind the ear, the skin will be lifted to reshape contours.

During/After Surgery

Facelift procedures should be performed in an accredited surgical facility either under general anesthesia at Outpatient Surgical Center or local anesthesia at Dr. Khoobehi accredited surgical suite. Facelift procedures are performed as outpatient and you may go home the same day as your procedure. It is normal to experience bruising and swelling after the surgery, and patients will feel as if their face is being pulled tight. This subsides within a couple of weeks.  Optimal results will be evident after several weeks to months.

Expected Cost

Depending on the technique used and the invasiveness of the surgery, the fees vary. Less invasive facelifts can average between $9,000 to $12,000. The more complex procedures can go as high as $15,000. Dr. Khoobehi is known for his expertise and personalized approach in performing Facelift.  He works closely with each patient to develop a treatment plan that is tailored to their specific needs and goals, ensuring that they achieve the best possible outcome.

Facelift FAQs

  • Non-invasive Techniques?

Cosmetic surgery is constantly evolving and always finding ways to minimize the invasiveness of procedures. There are countless options that are considered less invasive than a facelift, including wrinkle relaxers such as BOTOX®, injectable fillers, microdermabrasion and chemical/laser peels. These alternatives aim to correct signs of aging such as wrinkles, as well flatten and soften folds and contours. The effects, while effective, are often short-term lasting about 6 months to a year. Although these procedures can be safely repeated, for some, a facelift may be a better, more permanent option.

  • How Natural?

Immediately following a facelift procedure, the patient will feel tightness and a pulling sensation. This is normal as the facial tissues, skin and muscle adjust to their new positions.

  • Visible Scars?

A traditional facelift requires a long cut from the temple to the lower hairline, but the scars will be well concealed within the hairline and natural creases on the face. With the lesser invasive techniques, the scars heal pretty well and will almost be completely invisible to the naked eye.

  • Best Age?

Anyone can consider a facelift as soon as evidence of aging starts taking a toll on the skin. Generally, patients who are age 50 to 70 consider a facelift. Personal habits and environmental conditions can impact the skin and there are patients who are only 40 that are also good candidates for a facelift.
